About Us

The Blurt Foundation CIC (Blurt) is a user-led community interest company which exists to support, help and inspire those affected by depression who may have lost belief in themselves, and hope for the future.
Blurt’s aims are to reduce the negative stigma surrounding depression by helping people realise they are not alone, and by raising awareness of depression they aim to encourage isolated people to blurt it out! They do this by; offering comprehensive, free, online mentor scheme and offer resources which provide easy to understand information on depression. They also have an engaging, lively and successful social media presence where they encourage interaction and provide useful hints and tips.

Founded early in 2011, by Jayne and Dominic Hardy, The Blurt Foundation came about as a result of personal experience and a passionate desire to create a different, more hopeful, experience for others.
Since inception, Blurt has managed to help over 1,000 people via their online mentoring scheme. Their bank of online mentors are carefully matched to individuals in need of extra support. Mentors are an ear for those needing someone to listen to or connect with at a time in their lives when they feel lonely and frightened or when they don’t know where else to turn for help.

“I think this website is a refreshing approach to helping people with depression and reducing stigma. I am recommending it to my patients.” – Dr Mary Embleton, GP Mental Health Commissioner.
